Powerman: The Deep Freeze Chapter 33
The Search for Young Abrahm and Moriah
Upon entering the command center Zerilious asks, “What’s our status, Captain Shandry and what is that all that white on the chomat Commander Labmore? Is it down or something?”
Captain Shandry, goes over to Zerilious and pulls him aside, and responds in a calm tone. “I’ve got this Commander, continue with repairs”. Then, quietly talks to Zerilious about the situation.
Zerilious, that white on the chomat is the ice and snow that is all around us. Just to bring you up to date, in case you might now remember. You created a rift accidentally, that brought us back in time. Because our ship had been damaged before we entered the rift by Zorkon’s ship, the gravity of Keyos pulled us to the planet. You were able to control the craft some, but the ship was aimed directly at an ice shelf; there was nothing you could do. We were able to create an opening in the chamber using the kataidras and you got us into this chamber or cavern, whatever it is. . but as the ship was landing it caused a lot of tremors within the chamber and the entrance resealed itself and now the entire ship is encased in solid ice. I am not sure what we can do at this point, Your Majesty.” Then, Zerilious got this bewildered look on his face and went over and sat in one of the two command chairs and thought for a few minutes.
“Commander Labmore, I need to know more precisely the amount of years that we have traveled back in time, please, it’s important.” Inquired Zerilious sternly.
Commander Labmore, confidently responded, “I just got the siteseer working, and if the reading is correct, it appears we have gone back three million, nine hundred thousand and fifty years.”
“Thank you Commander,” responds Zerilious. Right after this, Zerilious, began remembering a day from his childhood, he had not thought of in a long time.
It was a beautiful summer day at his parents home and little Zerilious was outside playing in the meadow near the house. As he was looking up in the sky, he saw something weird, it looked like some kind of ship or something falling out of the sky. As he was watching it, he heard his mother Moriah calling to him.
Moriah gently chuckled as she hollered, “Zerilious! Zerilious! It’s time to come home! Dinner will be ready soon! Where are you? Are you hiding again? Your brother and sister are already back.” Moriah chuckled a bit more. Moriah was a very beautiful, kind and happy woman. Moriah and Zerilious’s father Abram had 3 children together, Zerilious, Shandra, and Tomir. Zerilious was the youngest, but also the most powerful, and would be Abrahms's heir to the empire when he got older. When, Zerilious didn’t answer her, she went to look for him, and found little Zerilious, staring at the sky in amazement.
“What it is Zerilious?” Moriah asked concerningly.
“I saw something mom, up in the sky. It looked like a ship or something came soaring down and crashed.”, replied Zerilious pointing to the sky.
Moriah, affirmatively responded, “I don’t see anything son.”
“But, it was there!” little Zerilious stated emphatically.
“I believe you Zerilious, but it is gone now. You know it could have been a meteor or something?” Moriah kindly responded.
“I don’t know Mom, it was awfully strange meteor if it was,” Zerlious responded.
“Well, I am not sure what you saw son, but I do know one thing. It is time to go inside and eat,” said, Moriah as she began to tickle and play with Zerilious as the two of them walked back to the house.
Then, Zerilious’s suddenly opened his eyes real wide, and said to himself in amazement, “Oh my gosh. Don’t tell me! This was what I saw in the sky that night. A full circle. Then, he had an idea. He knew that his father Abrahm was alive during this time, and there could be a chance that he might help them escape or show him how to use his powers to help them escape. He wasn’t sure but he felt that he needed to try something. Zerilous also knew he couldn’t tell his father who he was or his younger self so the timeline would be preserved.
“Captain Shandry, may I see you in the off-room (the off-room was the captain’s office, a separate room attached to the Command Center) please?
“Sure sir,” replied Captain Shandry
The Zerilious and the Captain went into the off-room and began to talk, in front of the desk.
Zerilious quickly began, “Captain, I need to go on a mission. We are presently trapped here. I am not talking about within the ice-shelf, but back in time. I need to understand how we got here in the first place, and how I can get us back. Someone I know who is living in this time frame might possibly could help me.”
“Who would be able to help you during this time frame Zerilious, we are close to four million years in the past.?” asked Captain Shandry.
“My father,” replied Zerilious hesitantly.
The Captain backed up almost in shock as he responded slowly, “Your father. How could he…”
Zerilious interrupted him, “Yes, he was alive during this time frame, and I was very young. I’ll have to be careful to try not to interact with my younger self.”
Captain Shandry’s mouth went wide open with shock, and said, “Just how old are you Zerilious?
Zerilous just smiled and said, “I am wondering if I should take anyone with me.”
The Captain, replied concerningly, “It wouldn’t be a bad idea during normal circumstances, but how will they get out of the ship and pass the ice? For that matter, how will you get passed the ice?”
Zerilious laughed, as he responded, “Captain Shandry, if I can go right through this ship into another ship, while in space, do you think that ice will be a factor?”
Then Captain Shandry began to laugh as well, as he replied, “I suppose that is a rather dumb question in terms of your ability for yourself, but I was also talking, about one of our crew people going with you. They don’t have your powers.”
Zerilious got a little more serious, “I can take one or two people with me through the ice, without any harm to them. Did you have anyone in mind?”
“How about me and Commander Garblack? General Zagarious is perfectly capable of running the ship while we are away.” Suggested Captain Shandry.
Zerilious, firmly said, “of course she is. I have the utmost confidence in the General. Yes, you and Commander Garblack will accompany me. I am not exactly sure what the mission is, other than to try and see if my father can help me. I am not even sure why I need to go, only that I do. Anyway, you and the Commander meet me in 10 minutes at the passage out.”
Then, Zerilious meets Commander Garblack and Captain Shandry at the passage out. All of them were dressed in heavy winter gear, except Zerilious.
“Zerilious, won’t you freeze in this cold weather?” asked, Commander Garblack.
Zerilious responded assuredly, “My cellular structure automatically adjusts to any sort of heat or cold temperatures. This is why I can go to many places that our crew cannot be, even with suits on. Some species live in so cold of weather on planets that any Keyocian would freeze within seconds if they stepped foot on it. Also, some would burn up if they stepped foot on other planets where the heat is almost as hot as the Keyocian sun and other species thrive. So, you all need to dress warmly, I do not. Are you both ready?” Then, the Captain and the Commander looking speechless, just nodded their head in agreement. Then, the three of them were enveloped by a star of power and disappeared and reappeared just outside of a small town, called Squellos.
